I have a 2005 vw beetle convertible, I need to know if when the top is down will it be ok to drive without a cover, or should I get a cover?

without the top down,

The convertible top cover helps to keep sand and dirt from filtering down into the folded top and wearing it prematurely. That's why it's provided with the car. Anyone who says it isn't necessary probably never owned a convertible, or at least not for long term.

I'm not sure you understand,I'm not any where near a beach, I want to put the top down to drive around
