Why does a buzzer sound when The top is down and I put it in drive?

I just bought a 2004 VW convertible with no owners manual. I put the top down and drove
a short ways and a warning buzzer went off. Is there something I need to do before the
top is secure?

The warning light will stay on and periodically beep at you if you do not retract the top and hold the button in position long enough to allow the secondary "motor catch" to lock the top in place. When the top retracts it will appear to stop, but then you will hear a different sound as the top then retracts an additional 1-2 inches as it locks into place.

That sounds good judge. But everytime I make a trip to my fridge to my dismay there are no cocktails to be found. Perhpas I need a new one that comes with a cocktail waitress.

The alarm sounds and icon light comes on and stays on ONLY when the convertible top is down on my 2010 Beetle. Can anyone help me solve this Please?

I'm having the same issue with my 2010 as well I got told to hold it down for a few more second and it will go down more I have yet to try it though

I have problem on my volks beetle. P R N D 3 2 1 are selected on my dustboard and thers a beeping sound. Any one can help me for this. Thank you so much :)

I have a 06 VW Beetle CV, and I lower my top manuelly but I am getting the warning signal. Tell me how I know it is latched down tight and locked in.

I suffered the same indignity with my wife's 2005 convertible. I never held the retract button long enough to hear the latch really latch.You'll know because It works. No more icon and no more alarm. Yes the motor will keep spinning but that's what locks it securely. BEAUTIFUL Car
