White Smoke/Oil leak/Not overheating

Sounds like a blown head gasket....

I should add that I did not check the coolant in the radiator itself but the reserve was completely full. The engine oil is not sludgy at all - however there are weird little black plastic looking pieces in the dipstick at times. The check engine light was on when I first got it (after I replaced the fuses that had been removed). The light has stayed off since the manifold and throttle body were completely cleaned. I doubt it is related but I'm not a mechanic.

Lawlinz; look, I'm really sorry you're going through all of this.. I've personally had two VWs, both purchased brand new, a 1970 VW Beetle and a 1978 VW Rabbit... I thought that the water cooled VW would have been better, but, I was WRONG. Both of them fell apart after about four years.... I will NEVER purchase a VW again.... and it's unfortunate that after a history of success with their air cooled VWs, the 70s, really saw a decline into oblivion... When the reboot of the NEW Beetle came out with so much excitement, they squandered the opportunity to make a car more substantive quality product. They blew it. And, the scandal of the emissions was OUTRAGEOUS.

The problem with leaks is they never get better with time. A compression test is indicated.

I have a 2003 VW bettle with turbo. White smoke coming out of exhaust pipe. I was told I had a blown turbo. Is it common for them to go out?
