vw issuse

I have an 02 vw 1.8t  passat it turns over but
wont crank(basically won't come on) the water
pump was leaking and I've been told that u cant
hear the fuel pump, I really need this car so can
anyone tell me something and if i change water
pump do I have to change the t. belt or t. chain
or am I wasting my time. also when u turn key
it's says brake fault, check coolant then it will
say STOP.

sounds like you got a whole lot of problems. For one if the water pump leaks you need to do the timing belt pulleys and tensiors as well as the hardware. For the fuel pump i would try and correct the leak first. If you pay more then 800$ (Canadian) to have this first job done you are over paying. For most brake faults the rear tail lights tend to get a short. Try removing the tail light panels and clean the contacts. do the same for the license plate lights. you have a 50/50 chance at clearing the fault this way. The fuel pump may not be working if the car is reading enough coolant for regular operating amount
