I have a 2006 VW Passat. During the summer my car will start up and drive fine like nothing is wrong with it. Then maybe an hr or two later it will just stall on me. I sit for about 30 to 45 minutes and it starts back up no problem. A couple times the check engine light came on after I started it again but will go off by time I made it home or the next morning.

Bob, it could be any component that is effected by high heat. It happens on cars that don't have a thermo time switch. It could be a bad solder joint. It could be a break in a coil. It could be a bad resister in a circuit.
