What could cause '06 Nissan Pathfinder to spontaneously accelerate from complete stop?

Today my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder accelerated twice within a short period from a complete stop at a traffic light, and my husband had to fight to stop it; the brakes were not responsive.
He took it right over to Priority Nissan; the computer wasn't able to find a diagnosis.
I'm terrified to drive it now. If this happens to me, should I throw it in neutral, as my husband suggests?

Make certain that the front driver's floor mat is not interfering with the gas pedal.

Thank you. That was my first thought. That isn't the problem, as the floor mat has a "pin" of some sort that keeps the grommeted mat in place.
Bob makes an excellent point, and Yes, neutral, don't shut it off you will lose steering and just hard brakes. Better to let it run away than hit something. Then when stopped, shut it off.
And try another dealer. They should put a tremendous amount of effort in diagnosing that, not just say they can't find a code and send you on your way

Thank you, that's what I'll do. Actually, the dealership is going to try to do some research...my mom is a good customer there, and has already been in touch with both the repair dept. and her salesman. Thanks to both of you for your quick responses, including some explanation. :)
