Cranks but doesn't stay on without spraying starting fluid

1998 Chevy suburban 1500 5.7 vortec. Hasn't been
started in about a year or so but the last time it
fired right up. Tried to start it but now it doesn't
stay on. Could here whirling sound of fuel pump
when ignition is on. How can I fix it??

Test the fuel pressure, if you don't own a gauge most parts stores sell or rent them, some even loan them out.
