Premium Gas for '04 | S60 Non-Turbo?
I am considering buying a Volvo S60 manual shift, non-turbo. Do I have to use premium gas? I thought that it was primarily for the turbo.
Are there any known problems with the manual transmission on the '04 S60?
Thank you in advance!

Oh the car has 100K on it ... ran smoothly but needs breaks - pads & rotors for sure. Other than that, quiet as a mouse with great acceleration etc. Not sure ... but all foreign makes have cars selling with many more miles and people seem happy enough. Mine comes with an extended 3 yr warranty for engine, transmission.
You can use low octane. These are good cars.
geesh ... I guess this board isn't very active. My mistake for waiting for expert responses but I thank you '125' for taking the time to answer.
Andrea, I have a 2001 V70 wagon with a 5 speed in it. I have over 200,000 miles on it and it's still on the original clutch. It's a great car. Change the oil regularly and it should last a good long time. I run mine on regular when I can't afford mid-grade. I put mid-grade or premium when the engine needs to perform at its best like when heading into the mountains. The computer will adjust the timing to match the gasoline.
The engine may be able to take 87 octane, but my ‘07 V50 has the same 2.4 I5 engine and it recommends 92. So 87 may be a viable option, but it will definitely run smoother with premium.
is 95 or 93 best gor my volvo 2.4 turbo cause its still have a white petrol smell smoke when i drive hard
