AC cuts out a few minutes after startup.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Have had two sensors replaced at the dealer (hi temp and low temp). Still have light blinking on startup (climate control
problem). The problem I am trying to correct is that the AC will work on startup or when the car has been sitting a
while. Then after 5 minutes or so it cuts out. Am told another sensor should be replaced (in car sensor?) and that there
may be problems with the compressor.

Volvo diagnostics can be hooked to the car and the climate control system can be diagnosed. Your cabin air sensor may be bad, or you have a stuck door in the system somewhere. The cabin air sensor is located behind a little grill on the dashboard next to your rear defrost switch. Instead of putting your controls all the way to cold (blue) set them at 66 or 68 and don't use any of the Auto settings. See if the A/C Works.
There is a magnetic switch on the compressor that get stuck after about 10 years or so. It's a common fault.

You can remove the compressor pulley and remove one of the shims (looks like a washer) and reassemble. Or you can insert bread clips (or similar) under the 3 clutch fingers (picture link below). I have done both with success. http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/1229/s60fix.jpg
I've had some shims removed on mine now and it works perfect now!
