what should I look out for when buying a 2002 2.4T FWD with 110K miles

Have the car checked out by a reliable mechanic with particular attention to the front end. They can get loose and eat bushings. Also, find a source for used (or new) spark plug coils. Buy two or three. Past 90K, they tend to fail, like any car. If one goes bad it seems like the whole engine is going to drop out. They're a snap to replace (you only need a star wrench and a 10mm socket). The other issue is the A/C. Have the system checked really thoroughly by a true expert. Expect problems with that, but none horrible. We have two 2000 Volvos (V70 and S70) and love them both. Mine has 140K on it and I expect to get 200K. The motor is still quite strong and mileage in town is 19, hiway is 28. The really nice thing about 2004 and older models is that you can work on them. 2005 and beyond, they get ever more reliant on dealer tools.
