Don’t worry about the life of the engine, it will be plenty long. Worry about how long the transmission will last. Some XC90’s have problems with one of the sets of planetary gears in the transmission.
My XC90 engine just died. I am the original owner. To be fare the car is 12 years old (it’s a 2006) and it has 180,000 miles. It’s sad because the rest of the car is in perfect shape and it has been a great car for 12 years.
I only have 134K miles on my XC90 and my transmission is going. Nothing can be done. Very disappointed. I had a 1986 BMW which went over 250 K miles and a Jeep Laredo 1993 well over 250K miles. I purchased the Volvo because of the safety and reputation for high miles.

My daughter got a 2009 Volvo XC90 V8 with 420,000 km - 260,000 miles. Everything works perfect. No complaints if you take care of your Volvo. My friend in Europe got a 2011 Volvo S80 3.2 liter with the 760,000 km on it - 470,000 miles. Converted into a propan butan fuel shortening the mileage of the engine

My Volvo is cruising past 330,000. miles and still works without major problems. The prior owner changed the oil at half normal maintenance cycle since he purchased it new. No dirty oil. No burnt rings. Its really a good buy for one yankee dollar.
