Engine dying when slowing down and has misfire

Asked by GuruL46RG Mar 18, 2019 at 08:29 PM about the 2007 Mazda CX-7 Grand Touring

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have put $1400.00 in repairs trying to get my vehicle fixed.  First the check
engine code said It had a misfire on the 4th cylinder, had a new fuel injector
put on. Then it started to dye when slowing down and stopping, had a new
fuel pump and relay replaced. it was ok for about a week and now its back to
doing both but worse. The repair shop is now telling me it has fuel in the oil
and I need a new engine. What can I do?

I had the same issue. It would not idle and would die at stop signs. I finally took it to a Mazda dealer and $1200 repairs on a $5000 CX-7. It was an air leak probably from every oil change checking the air cleaner. From the air box to the throttle body including vacuum lines were replaced. That’s some expensive plastic. Prior to the dealer repair I had my local guy replace the timing chain, #4 coil, and plugs.
