I drive a 2007 Toyota corolla. The last two or three weeks I've noticed that there's a lag when shifting into first gear. It feels like the car is reving up way too much before it can actually go.

Check your fluid first, your motor oil and your transmission oil. Sometimes the A/C will act up if your water level is low. You may need to change your oils before you consider spending big bucks. these cars are great!
It's not the motor oil and idk where the A/c enters in to this. Check the transmission fluid, running in Park. It has marks on the dipstick for cold or hot. 'Hot' meaning normal operating temperature. Put the dipstick right under your nose and try to determine if it has a burnt odor. And a nice red color. Please come back and let us know.
