Asked by Grizzly600 Apr 30, 2015 at 10:46 PM about the 1996 Chevrolet Astro LS Extended AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Astro coded with a random misfire on
cylinder 2. Worse when moist outside. fuel
presure was checked and a little low, and
cap, plugs, and wires were replaced. The
cap was upgraded to brass contact model.
Upon first start and operation, vehicle
surges slightly at highway speed, and
smells a little like rich fuel and misfires
after stopping then accelerating. After
shutting off and starting again, problem
seems to go away.
ECU maybe?

Yeah its on constantly, cause the misfire triggered it. Guess Im looking to see if anyone has had the same symptoms and was able verify it before I go buy a used computer

If it is random,it is more than likely the ECU,but a good mechanic can code the ecu and tell you if it clear,s and is good or not ,before you buy a new one,may even reflash the one you have.
