MC Jimmy doesn't accelerate like it should

Asked by GuruD1D8T Sep 01, 2017 at 06:47 AM about the 2001 GMC Jimmy 4 Dr SLE SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My jimmy gets up to a certain speed on the
highway and that's it, it just won't accelerate any
faster. Is that dangerous if I'm taking a trip
somewhere? Or is it dangerous period?? Please let
me know!!!!

Depending on the maximum speed it could be dangerous. Anytime my car doesn't accelerate or stop correctly I think it could put me in a risky position. It sound like it could be a throttle body issue or possibly fuel pump. If it's a fire wire system it could also be the foot pedal not delivering the correct voltage. Its difficult to say without diagnostics.
