AC pulley or bad fuel filter?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer. I've been hearing a high squealing noise when I turn the AC on, so my boyfriend though it was the bearings in the ac pulley. Well, today, I sat in the car for a little while, AC on. I went to drive off so I turned the AC off and drove. Within a few feet, it just died. I attempted to start it and it will crank but it won't turn over. I had a friend that was with me look at it and he thinks it might be a fuel filter. Would the AC pulley keep the engine from turning over?

Not with a good battery. The starter will overpower a frozen pulley. Scream like a cat fight. Your b/f might be right in the first place, either bearing or compressor seized up and will crank over just fine when off. But not starting sure could be fuel filter but that would be far down the list when it happens sudden-like. The A/C pulley will not cause a no-start condition especially if it turns over but won't 'catch'
