Suggest you purchase a new CD player. Even if you remove the player yourself, the bench time to diagnose the problem will be more than the cost of a new player.
From another post on this website, "CD ERROR" may be fixed by removing the two radio fuses, then replacing them after 10 minutes. Worked for me (2006 Explorer 6 CD/MP3 player)
