Buick Riviera transmission

Asked by Jerik Jun 06, 2018 at 07:09 PM about the 1995 Buick Riviera Supercharged Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Buick riviera 1995 supercharged, the revs
will only go up to 3rpm when accelerating and then
it will just keep reving, days later it wouldn't
accelerate on Drive only on D3.
Is there any other transmission from another car
that fits my Riviera?

I suggest you check the Engine Computer. When it goes bad the symptoms you described are mostly related to the ECM (engine computer). The transmission in the 95 Riviera is a one year only. The 96-99 transmissions are interchangeable.

have you checks the transmission fluid level? if it's low on fluid, you can get the same symptoms that you have already. If the fluid is.at a safe level, how does the transmission fluid look over all? Is it clean bright pink? or is it brown and sludgy?? If it's the latter you just might get lucky in y changing the transmission fluid and filter. be sure to drain the transmission fluid in the torque converter as well you want to get all that contaminated fluid out of there.
