Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1996 Chevy Cavalier 2.4 engine . It will run smooth for miles & then starts running rough all of the sudden. But then it will smooth out again . It goes back & forth . I never know . It has not stalled at all . Now the engine is running rough all of the time . Lacks power , car shakes , & it sounds like a helicopter running ! The car starts fine & never stalls . Please help ! No tune up done lately ! I'm sure that may help , but I feel like it is something else . I think that I will try that first & they might just pinpiont exactly what it is while doing a tune up ! Thanks ! BC69VETTE

I have the same thing. I'll be looking at it. However 5 years ago, the cover over the coils (plastic) had a small crack. It had arcing everywhere. Replaced the cover, 5 Years ago, running great ever since then.. that's it! It happened right after a blizzard. I now have a loading issue, but, it really needs an exhaust. I have an O2 sensor out, Evap sol out.. so.. I'll update later. DonINDY

have checked eg r valve same car every couple years i had change mine or clean it
