Asked by Karen Aug 11, 2018 at 12:08 PM about the 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 SL Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Front blinkers and hazard lights only work when
key is in start position once you start the truck they
stop working. Back blinkers working fine. Cruse
control does not work. Changed the flasher, still
nothing. Before changing the flasher back blinker
was blinking fast. Checked all fuses they are good
and all wires seem to be ok.

Did you use a test light and check voltage and ground? In the diagram, depending or right or left side, lite blue and dark blue are voltage for front turn signals. The bottom black wire is ground. Use a test lite and check both, when problem is ongoing.

Ok no have not tested that yet, will try that. Would it matter if the headlights are aftermarket parts, the previous owner changed both front and back lamps.

If the wiring is still original/factory, it shouldn't matter. If the wiring is not factory or has been changed, then, I'm not sure how to help? My wiring diagrams show the front and rear turn signals work off the same fuse, as far as voltage.
