I have a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser and 2days ago it jerked a lot and my mechanic cleaned my battery. And it seemed to be fine but today I was driving and it would not let me go pass 2 rpms and my engine light came on and now its fine but my engine light is on

connect your OBD trouble code reader, or take it to an auto parts store where they will tell you that your tank is overfilled or the 02 sensor is bad...etc.---anyways we're dead in the water without this information....thanks, JRB

It should be OK to drive. It's when the CEL is flashing that damage could occur. It's not good to drive with the CEL on so get those codes read to see what system needs attention.

my 2007 engine light came on, car started jerking and when you applied gas, it would jerk even more, got home shut it off, and went to start it, and it would crank and crank for 5 seconds then start, had it checked out at local garage and found the camshaft , position sensor was bad , garage charged 79.00 for the part and 79.00 labor, I did find the part on line and at auto parts stores from 35.99 to 55.99 depending on what store .
