Can someone help with my car heater?

Asked by RodneyP Feb 13, 2016 at 11:26 AM about the 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The heater and blower in my 2007 PT Cruiser works fine as long as the car is
moving. When I stop for any reason, the blower starts blowing cold air. If I rev
the engine while stopped the heater will keep blowing hot air. If I let it idle
normally the blower blows cold air. As soon as I take off it gets warm again.
This just started in the last two weeks.

Make sure the coolant is full and in the reservoir tank, coolant up to the cold line, engine cool, hot line when engine is hot or running.

If all is well there then when it blows cold air check the heater hoses. If one is noticeably cooler than the other then there probably an air pocket in the cooling system. Once that is checked, it may be that the heater core may need to be back flushed.
