How long will a car run well after it has over 100K miles on it?
Asked by Lynnemarie Mar 26, 2016 at 04:16 PM about the 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring Convertible FWD
Question type: General
I'm simply asking about used cars and their "life span" since I'm going to be
buying used for the first time. That may sound odd, but it's true, I'm
unemployed, receiving SSDI monthly and hope to be employed very soon.
Which will increase my spending limit.

My question is im looking at a 2009 pt cruiser on Kimi looks good for 700 that's not what scares me it's the kilometers there is 25000 on it
I have had mine for 9 years. Just regular maintenance and tires and brakes. Still love it.
I just hit 118K miles on my 2008 PT Loser and the same day t starts spraying gasoline from the fuel line.
I have 2, an 08 and 03, the 08 has 117,000,and the 03 has 164,000, I have done regular maintenance on them ,timing belt, water pump etc.....,and don't have any problems with either one.
We have a 2005 pt 145,000 bought a extended warranty have put a transmission, work on the air, work on turbocharged, the computer replaced, and new alternator and hoses all but the hoses were covered by a $2,700 warranty still driving the car and love the ride
I put 287,000 on one and 250,000 on another. We did regular maintenance, no problems. Just bought another.....
I Have a 2001 that I purchased in 2003 with 60000 miles on it, I replaced the water pump and timing belt at 80000 miles did all the regular maintenance. the car now have 230000 on it! AND IT IS STILL GOOD TO ME! I LOVE THIS CAR. trying to see how far it will go with just regular maintenance. (WITHOUT CHANGING THE TIMING BELT AGAIN.
I have a 2004 Touring with a Turbo engine, I am the 3rd owner, and I paid $2,500. The owners before me babied this car. I have every service record for the first 14 years. I've had it a little over a year. Just replaced the serpentine belt, a gasket or something, total cost $975. It runs great, doesn't get really warm in the winter, but air works perfect. Been told I need a heater coil. I have 177,885 miles. I'm going to drive it until it dies, not going to put much more money into it, except oil change.
Have a 2005. Have had it 11 years. Changed timing belt, water pump, etc at 97,000 miles.rehular oio and trans fluid changes and routine maintenance. Still love this car.handles great and rides nicely. Superb body and interior to any small car I've owned. Still looks great. Not looking to get rid of it.

I have a 2007 PT Cruiser I've had it for 5 or 6 yrs. Its paid for so I dont mind putting money into it now and then. Can anyone tell me of s location that works on PT Cruiser in Atlanta GA by the airport? I took it to Goodyear in Fayetteville about a month ago. They did a diagnostic on it and came up with over 2000 worth of things that needed to be fixed. I'm a female and I went by myself. I didnt know what vfc questions to ask so I ask what was prioritie at the time? I got 2000 worth of work done. Thought I was in the clear . A few days later my thermostat started acting up. That was the initial reason for taking it to them. Because the needle wasn't close to hot when they looked at it they said nothing was wrong with the thermostat. Paid 300 to have it changed. A week later check engine light back on. Took it to Aamco for s diagnostic. They said a misfire. I told them I just got a tune up and 2000 worth of work done. Took it back to Goodyear in Fayetteville Georgia, now they are saying catalytic converter. I need a mechanic that works on the 2007 PT Cruiser. I called Chrysler and they dont work on cars older than 10 years unless they have worked on it from day 1. I dont have any more money to give to Goodyear. I originally took the car there for the thermostat and they would change it. I know this is a lot but I need help plz.
Bought my 2003 PT Turbo 2nd hand from dealer in 2006, just passed 100,000 miles. The car runs great over the years and still does. When something needs attention I get it fixed. Family thinks I should buy new car but I won't until this one stops moving or breaksdown and costs too much to fix. I get compliments on how clen she looks and good body shape. I traded in Volvo for this PT because it was a fun looking car. Sorry if yours didn't suit you.
I have replaced the AC condensor & Compressor, & timing belt, before the car hit 100,000. What breaksdown are the plastic parts, radiator, & antifreeze bucket, also before 100,000 mi. A broken plastic piece inside the ignition caused car to not shut off and it drained battery. But I Love my Cruiser!!
2992 PT with 144000 miles on it. Runs great- I have a manual transmission. Just got the timing belt, water pump and engine mounts replaced for about $900. Did the real suspension last year myself for about $400 in parts. Had to replace the clutch plate because the prior owner had used a really cheap part. Next is the front and a cheap(ish) paint job, replacing the dashboard and instrument panel lights in the next few weeks . I really like the car- heater and AC work fine- and the handling is great. Love having a stick- makes it a lot more fun to drive! I bought it 3 years ago and really love the car.

I have a gold 2004 touring PT cruiser (XL) I came to look at how many miles till it dies. To my amazement it is about 200,000. Miles with proper maintenance. I’m so happy because I love this car. I can fit my grandchildren in it easily. I can also put the seats down and it turns into a truck. The only thing I have replaced is the air conditioner and tires and oil changes. My heater runs great. I bought this car at 71,000 miles and it was great then.
