temperature gauge is on the wrong side of the scale, pointing towards the fuel
gauge. when I turn key from on position to off position it flutters and moves to a
different position on the gauge. does not seem to move when operating the car.
any advice?

What do you mean when you say it points to the wrong side of the scale? Are there scale numbers on the gauge? If so, what does it read when "on"? If not, does it start at one side with a cold engine and move toward the other side as the car warms up? If so, it would tell me its working properly. Likewise, if you read a temp between 190 and 230 degrees, it, too, is operating correctly.

Someone told me to turn the key back and forth , but not to start and every time i did that it came back down to normal . Never does get hot or over heat and stays on normal when driving . Does this quite often , garage told me need a whole new cluster , and been like that for over two years now . 2007 Pontiac torrent . John .
