timing belt

if the timing belt snaps on my 2007 forester, does it damage the engine?

Oh yeah! My timing belt broke, wrapped it self around the engine and ac. Had to have the engine replaced and a new ac system. I didn’t even have 60k on that belt! Don’t wait till it snaps, it’s cheaper to replace the belt.
