Back then you can replace the part if your sure that is the problem, clear the computer and then run the drive time protocol, if it’s fixed limp in mode will not return and the check engine light will remain off.
Solenoid b circuit malfunction means the fluid is filthy, or the Solenoid pack has issues. Solenoid pack is not cheap new and no guarantees used. Drain fluid inspect contents of pan, small chips shavings or parts is bad (replacement) at that point, Grey sludge in pan is not a happy gear box do not flush you'll rinse all that crap into converter and all trans components. If the fluid is brownish and doemst smell burnt remove filter two t 25 screws reinstall new filter clean old silicone from pan and trans throw away the gasket they send in filter kit unless you wanna fight fluid leaks from here to eternity use silicone like the factory did DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN these holes strip easy just snug where silicone squeezes out some. The solenoid pack is on the front of transmission w a 8mm bolt and secured to trans via four T- 25 screws if dirty and greasy pressure wash area as when Solenoid pack comes off there will be two open holes into trans that will drop cooties into trans.the whole box will come as a unit. Re mount new/used Solenoid pack connect wire connection be sure pins and connectors are free of oil grease and dirt. Tighten till snug 8mm bolt.add 4 quarts of ATF+4 only anyother fluid will fry your trans. Clear codes and road test if code persists start looking to grounds. If you have an accompanying code of po700 or po888 means you have a ground issue.
Carpenter's assessment is very thorough, and perhaps absolutely correct. For anyone reading this after the fact, I would start by swapping out the input/output sensors for the transmission first. It's the easiest and cheapest. It's also the most likeliest.
