2007 volkswagen jetta fans not working
Asked by MsDavis Aug 13, 2014 at 10:03 PM about the 2007 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5L
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Car was functioning normal, air conditioning was on and then we noticed smoke coming
from under the hood. Antifreeze was splashing out and the fans were not on. What does
fixing this entail? And, is this something that can get done only at the dealer?

First check fuse,s,then check your fan relay,s.
Could all so be bad tempreture sending unit all so.
Change out your thermostat. Most likely that's what failed. Start car after change out and see if your fans kick on. If not replace what TST suggested.
one more thing ... the car was parked and idle when this happened. Air on and the speedometer was at 290 ...
It did overheat no doubt. Thermostat should open at 180 degrees.
