Are the brakes working normally? If not, you may have a massive air leak due to a ruptured diaphragm in the power brake booster. A leak there will cause a lot of air to enter the engine and cause stalling or at least a very fast idle when you apply the brakes. Have it checked out.

What caused my 2004 Buick LeSabre to abruptly die and when I start it, it just spits sputters , it runs a bit then dies. Repeat and does the same, when I step on the gas it spits sputters n dies.
