My guess would be the door switch. Since the trunk opens using the key fob, you have already proven the circuit works so the only other operational component is the switch. It may be bad, but check that the wiring to it is connected and has not come loose.

Key fob won't work nor the door switch. If I disconnect the negative cable on the battery, both the key bow and door switch work. However, it only works till I turn the ignition key once I do that - once again the key fob not does the trigger on the door work. Done replaced the fuse block in the trunk - did not solve issue. Funny thing is the following three items all failed at once as that's why I replaced the fuse block in trunk. The three items that failed. 1 - trunk release not working 2 - rear window defogger quit 3 - said top not secure All three items pointed to the trunk fuse box. So now where do I look?
