Jeep Grand Cherokee 2007 won't start -- lights come on -- get a message that says "transmission over temp" it's been parked for 12 hours. HELP!

I got in my car to go to work this morning and it wouldn't turn over.  No click or nothing.  My lights, radio, etc.. all work and I have just replaced the battery. I have read on some forums that the solenoid wires can be the problem. I don't have money to take to a mechanic... can this be done by a lay person?  Also have others had this issue and fixed by cleaning or changing out the wires (pigtail) ?

Also when I use the key fob It will honk twice and that's where it usually starts up. It didn't start but I could hear something click like it was trying to do something....

Its more than likely your starter. Have someone tap it with a ball peen hammer while you try to start it. If it starts, thats your issue

Well the good news is that my Jeep is fixed. It was the Pigtail wiring. I had a friend who owns a mechanic shop who replaced the wiring for 190.00 including labor. Now she starts and runs fine!!
