Lesabre isn’t starting and I can’t figure out why?

Asked by hookemhorns8197 Jan 20, 2023 at 12:46 AM about the 2000 Buick LeSabre Limited Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 lesabre and I replaced the MAF
sensor a couple weeks ago and it ran fine for a
couple weeks. Then it stopped starting so i had a
buddy come over and we manually turned the
engine over and it started fine for a couple days.
Now it is back to just making the one click sound
and it wont start so i am just wondering if anyone
has any advice for me.

Switch on the headlights and try to start it. Do the headlights stay nice and bright? If so this is going to be the starter or possibly the neutral safety switch. In that order. Try hitting the starter a few times with a hammer. If that gets you going it's definitely the starter. If the headlights go out, dim severely, or flicker badly it's going to be a bad battery cable connection. Hope that helps! Jim
