The manual of my 2006 (TRULY 2006! NOT 2005! OOPS) Wrangler X doesn't say a thing about taking the doors off. It looks easy enough but is it? And is it a good or bad idea or unlawful?

The doors are pretty darn easy to remove, half or full steel. Just remove the two door pins, slide the check strap off and lift the door up and off. ( You might want to take an emery cloth to the doorpins once in in while to keep them rust free.) As far as the mirrors go, your gonna need them so pick up a relocation bracket from quadratec or any other jeep parts supplier. For the 06 TJ they wil be about 45 bucks and require no drilling. They use the stock bolts on the lower windshield frame. Hope that helps.
