distributor problem can someone help?

1997 chevy silverado 5.7 every 6 months or so distributor and rotor gets
corrosion like battery cables and wont start what can cause this?

Moisture is getting in there. Maybe the cap is cracked.

Use dielectric grease to help seal out moisture. A rubber boot might also help.
