96 chevy c1500 5.7l vortec fuel injected

Won't start replaced ICM, distributor, cap,
rotor,  plugs, ignition module harness, crank
sensor, still no start, back fires every now
and then when I attempt to start, smell a lot
of fuel out the exhaust and lot of fuel at the
rail, before it died I was warning her up and I
tried to take off and the truck just died and
won't start

I had this same problem checked for spark at the coil and fuel pressure etc.etc.kept thinking get to myself it's an ignition or timing issue.after going over and over things . It wound up being the cap and rotor. Put on an older one that I replaced and hung on to fired right up...

CNM122, Just curious did you figure out what was the issue with your truck. I have the same problem. mine is a new factory GM engine had it running great died one morning and now it wont start. everything is new just about. got fuel got spark and air but no joy I am stumped.
