92 chevy ck1500 engine shutting off

My 92 chevy ck 1500 5.7(Has fuel injector not
carburetor).will start up and die again. I have to rev
the engine to keep it going. Then once begin to
drive about 5-10 sec later I can hear the engine
turn off and my check engine turns on, and my
brakes get hard and steering wheel locks.
Sometimes I can hear somthing in my engine
sound to grind before my engine turns off. I've
been told it may be a fuel leak, but because of the
grinding sound it can be the transmission.
Anybody got any ideas?

is your check engine light causing an error code to pop? you may want to try and take to auto zone to see if they can pull an error code for you. that may provide some insight as to what may be wrong.

If u haven't replaced fuel filter in a while, this is where i would start. If u can get codes, it'll narrow it down but if changing filter doesn't help, check fuel pressure

If vehicle can not make it to auto zone they will rent the computer scanner to you.

So I bought a fuel filter and replaced old one, added some fuel injector cleaner and some gas and she drove again without any problems. Hope it stays that way. Thanks!
