I was quoted $1000 to replace the heater core on a 91 Camaro convertible. Does anyone have any feedback on that price?

I was quoted $1000 to replace the heater core on a 91 Camaro convertible.  Does anyone
have any feedback on that price?
It seems you have to drop the dash and steering column to access the core.

If you live in warm area and it's leaking you could place a small piece if hose in line to by pass it Untill you save the money or find a better deal quick fix to buy some time
