I noticed driving my 2005 C6 from Florida to CA the center console gets quit hot. I saw a heat blanket advertised to place above the muffler pipes. On short trips no problem. Is this worth a $300 investment?

Sounds high priced, but a heat blanket may not be a bad idea. It is probably a normal heat but you may want to check that your factory heat shields are in place and in good condition. They can come loose and cause situations like you're describing.
