02 acura rsx power steering malfunctioning?

the power steering recently stopped working properly. at first it just worked on and off and you could feel it pull once it started working again, usually could be lightened by adding some power steering fluid. after adding power steering fluid a couple times, I noticed it wasn't working anymore to help things. as your driving you can hear the pump working/trying to work making like a washer type noise. I don't know if its a line and the fluid is making leaking out, I cannot tell. or if I need a new pump all together. the car has 150,000 miles roughly. has anyone else ever had this problem and how do I fix it?

If it is making a what sounds like a constant noise that gets louder when you try to steer but is quieter when not steering that is a sign of the power steering pump going bad. They usually work for a month after they start making noise. The main cause of them dying is not having enough power steering fluid so once it got to low it will malfunction and will slowly deteriorate even after adding fluid if it was run to long without it.
