Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When depressing the brake pedal it allows me to shift my car from park  drive reverse etc. Sometimes i have to press on the brake pedal multiply time before i am able to shift the car. A faint clicking can be heard on the Steering column.which i believe to be the Shift Interlock Solenoid. Where is this located is it an easy fix?  Thankyou

The brake light switch could be going bad, or the wires going to it could be breaking. It happened to me, the wire broke, it's too stiff. i think there's an aftermarket kit for that, or you could just splice in new wiires with spade terminals. Just a couple of inches of new wire, that's flexable. It's above the brake pedal.

On mine I can turn on the hazards and it engages the interlock, allowing to shift out of park. Or on the button of the steering column is a rubber plug. If you remove that plug you can stick something in there to manually engage it. I'm in the process right now of moving the interlock to another spot under the dash that's more accessible.
