Overheating problems with Tacoma 2007

Asked by GuruDVLH4Y Aug 17, 2024 at 12:35 PM about the 2007 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have a Toyota Tacoma that overheats so bad it boils
within a couple minutes. My husband replaced the radiator,
the thermostat and the pump but it still overheats so bad
that the radiators build up pressure and it starts to bend.
Can anybody give us any suggestions? I have been sick and
keep rescheduling my Dr visits but our vehicle isn't safe to
drive like this

Sounds like a blown headgasket.

I agree, for it to overheat and boil over that quickly it's almost certainly the head gasket. With the engine cold, pressure test the cooling system. The system should hold pressure for a minimum of 15 minutes. If it doesn't and there's nothing leaking externally it's the head gasket. To absolutely positively confirm this, start the engine, with the system pressurized, and look at the needle on the gauge of the pressure tester. If it bounces with the engine running, the head gasket is absolutely blown. Jim

You should have came here first before your " mechanic " got started . A simple compression test would have shown a bad head gasket . Pull the oil fill cap and see the white emulsion from oil and coolant mixing
