Check your speedometer cable. It should go from somewhere in the firewall to your front axle.

Agreed...cable is either binding or worn excessively. Disconnect and use a graphite lock lub to free it up. If that fails, you'll need to replace it.

depending on the JUMP your seeing it could be a gauge issue... you may need a new cluster... like i just swapped out on my car for a sticky / jumping speedo...
