2007 Lincoln Navigator Tail Light

Asked by EricHall594 Dec 05, 2020 at 02:04 PM about the 2007 Lincoln Navigator L 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have read numerous posts on this topic, but still haven't
found a clear answer. I have a 2007 Lincoln Navigator.  All
of the lights in the entire vehicle work except for the tail
lights.  I checked the bulbs and they are good. Based on
another thread here, I replaced the brake switch but to no
avail. All of the break lights work as do the turn signals and
all headlights.  Checked all fuses and none seem to be bad.
Any thoughts  or ideals on this? Thank you in advance.

Maybe the wiring is damaged. Check the bulb connections for corrosion.

Is power getting to the sockets when headlights are on and not pressing on brakes? If yes then you probably have bad bulb sockets. If not, I would check taillight relay

Thank you all for the info. and input. I will check the sockets and the wires. I will also use a multimeter to check and see if there is continuity to the sockets. Researching and reading the manual, there is not a fuse or a relay that mentions anything in the name of tail lights. Any idea which one controls the tail light ford_fanatic87?

I keep seeing posts about the towing lights relay but wouldn't think that would control the tail lights.

Note the diagram, hope it's correct. the headlamp switch signals the sjb by grounding a circuit, so the sbj knows what is going on with lamps, then the sjb grounds the park lamp relay to energize and send voltage for park lamps. The rear lamps can also be called park lamps. You can see fuse above park lamp relay in diagram, use a test light and check fuse for voltage. at the rear, violet wire with white tracer is voltage for lamps. Black wire should be ground. If other rear lamps work ok, ground should be ok.

This issue is driving me literally insane. Since my original post I have taken it to two different shops and neither were able to find the problem. My next step is a Lincoln dealership shop. Did verify that the trailer wiring harness has the same issue (brakes, turnsignals both work just not the taillights/park lamps). I traced the trailer hitch wiring harness from it's termination point trying to find where it joins the taillights, but lost it under the fuel tank. Based on that I am guessing it is a factory install and not aftermarket so I was unable to find the junction before the engine compartment fuse box if there is one. Double and triple checked all fuses and relays with no issues. Scratching my head big time...

Just check the license plate incandescent lamps. In my case the lamp melted and cost short in the wiring.
