2007 GMC Canyon brake light issue

I've got a 2007 GMC canyon 4 x4 z71 package. A few years
ago I went through the brake switch issue. Took care of it
myself in about 5 minutes. Fast forward to now I have a
situation where my lights are staying on but the brake lights
are not working. Also my third brake light is not working.
it's not the brake switch that goes under the pedal this time
I've already replaced it again. Does anyone have any ideas
for me as to what could be the cause of this issue? After
going through it it does not appear to be a fuse.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I should add that I bought a brand new third brake light and plugged it in and that is not working either. Is it possible that the harness that goes inside the cab went bad or shorted out?
