Car stalls out while pumping gas if left running while fueling

Asked by Justin Aug 08, 2018 at 07:09 PM about the 2008 Dodge Avenger SE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car stalls out while pumping gas if left
running well fueling up, if I decide to turn the
car off before fueling up the first time I go to
start it it will stall out immediately every
time the second time if I give it gas for a
while it stays running? Can anyone help me
figure this problem out? In my opinion that's
going to be the fuel pump I'm hoping it's not
but for the mileage I'm thinking it would be
but hopefully I'll get lucky and it might be
coils or spark plugs and wires does anybody
have any suggestions?

You should never leave a car running while refueling, for one thing it is dangerous, you just explained another reason. I think you are creating a problem with the EVAP system.
