You will need to hook up a scan tool, read the codes and watch whet the sensors are actually doing while someone drives. Doesn't sound like a simple concern. First question though, are all 4 tires the same size and properly inflated? TA and ABS systems can be sensitive to tire issues.

The 4X4 means the engine is powering all 4 wheels, its also using more power to do this meaning less MPG This and also depending on your engine size will also hurt your MPG if its the larger size It will be like driving an F-150 or F-250

Most likely it's a wheel speed sensor concern. The computer probably recognizes a sensor glitch as a need to turn on Traction Assist or ABS (or both). Hook up a scan tool and watch the wheel speed sensor activity while someone else drives. One is probably dropping out.

My 2008 Escape did the same thing. It was cracked wheel sensor ring on both the front drive shafts. The original rings were weak. Ford updated the new ones. Expensive repair. Luckily mine was repaired under extended warrenty
