Wow, this is a good question. Let us start from.. does it happen only when A/C is on? Or the HVAC blower motor, even if off? Meantime I am going to dig around and see what I can find. But if I knew that, fan on or not or no effect either way...

no air or heat will be on and it just gives a rush through the vents

Ok, I admit I did not read all they way through your question. You said all controls off. Somebody needs to look way up under for a vacuum hose deteriorated/fallen off. And still looking

Please Anna give me some time, or unless one of the guys that has a Mustang can give you a direct answer. other than that, you have me intrigued and am still looking...

How long does the air-blast long? 1 second? 10 seconds? A minute? BTW it would scare the crap out of me too.... but anyway I am searching Mustang forums...and other places..

Sorry Anna. No luck with information. I went to several forums, and this has everybody stumped.

i under stand that you have every thing off like fan says but is your air selector on the vents to you or the floor or windshield if you have it set to blow on you move that knob to floor and put the air mix in the middle of hot and cold and push your button for recirculated air before you turn your ac off. i think you are getting air from your cowl under the windshield maybe

i have the floor vents on like 99% of the time when i use the heater i have only used the air like 2 times beings its a convertible but this happens even when the heater hasnt been ran for days or months as in this last rush of air

is it just standard knobs or do you have climate controls ie digital or automatic temp control? i think it has to do with your recirculating door it might be changing from recirculate to out side air on its own i just wouldn't know why or how to fix it with out having the car here. i think i would pull the cab filter and have a look at it and down inside where it sets see if there is and thing wrong in there

Good info Rhodes2345. I have not just let this go... I agree that the outside air intake, the vents in front of the windshield are letting air in through the HVAC system somehow but the short blasts are what has us pounding our heads on the desk.

just standard controls not climate control i will try putting it to re circulation the next time i use it and see if this helps
