Air pocket ? It all depends on what they gauge is doing , if it gets hot right away that sounds like a head gasket , is there goop under the oil fill cap ? is the exhaust white ? Bad thermostats are checked in a pan of hot water with a thermometer to see if they open at a certain temp. .The radiator cap may be bad that's why it bows into the reservoir , once the coolant is lost it over heats , is it using coolant ?
