i just got the car and am trying to learn as much as i can about it. where is the "computer" located on a 2006 bmw m6?

which computer are u reffering to? the dme on the e60 m6 is on the passenger side engine compartment by the firewall under all the microfilter covers

In any given modern BMW there are at least 20 modules which qualify as "computers". Given they are all factory optimised, there will be very minimal return on your investment from tampering with any one of them. Share with us your intentions and may be we can come up with a strategy for you.
