Think about it like this... Inline 6 vs. V-8. Significantly more cost, maintenance, and reliability. The comes you scenario. V-8 vs. M V-10. M vehicles require more maintenance in general, compared to their "standard" counterparts due to the simple aspect of high- performance parts and builds that require regular teardowns. If you can rebuild a beautiful V-10 yourself, then don't worry about it. I know of a couple of guys this applies to, who don't work for BMW or own their own shops. Good luck!

How many miles does your car have? What were the major cost? Tarnny head gasket?
I don't currently own one, despite having turned my share of wrenches on the lot. I recommend finding a good local shop. www.bimrs.org would be good place to check if you don't currently have one. What models have you owned? Worked on?
