Why won't turn signals flash?

Turn signals only flash randomly, usually they just stay a steady light; i've replaced bulbs.

Replace the flasher, it is likely the problem.

I hope so. I took it for an estimate to a local auto repair place and they said for $500 they would remove the steering wheel and rewire the car. This after only turning the signals on and off. I'll try your suggestions first, cause... I ain't got $500. :) Thank you all.

I agree with Joel, replace your flasher. Most likely the culprit
